01What the Server CH brings to a Crestron Home installation

It acts as a two-way translator between the Crestron world and the open protocols surrounding it.

• Connection of an existing KNX bus: already-installed actuators — lighting, shading, heating — appear in the Crestron interface instead of staying controlled separately.
• Matter openness: the project's Matter devices become addressable within the same room and scene logic.

04Limits and project watch points

• Commissioning is the work of a certified Crestron integrator: this is not a self-install product, and the quote must include that time.
• The scope actually integrated depends on object types: anything without an equivalent in the Crestron or Matter model stays outside the unified interface.
• Major Crestron Home upgrades must be planned with the integrator: that is when a third-party driver needs verification.
• With a narrow service market in France, plan after-sales support in the contract rather than at the first incident.

05How a Crestron Home project is usually run

Unlike a KNX retrofit, a Crestron Home project is rarely driven by the end client. It runs through a certified integrator, and that changes both the order of decisions and who answers which question.

1. Scoping with the integrator. What must be controlled, from which interface, and what already exists on the KNX side if anything does.
2. Checking processor and licences. This is the eliminating step: the scope of what can be added depends on the processor generation and the licences in place.
3. Ordering the hardware. This is where we come in — supply, French invoicing, lead times stated before the order.
4. Commissioning by the integrator. Programming and acceptance are theirs. We do not install, and we do not pretend to.
