1Home Touch: the wall panel to control your installation
The Touch is a wall control: a panel set into the wall, connected to the server, showing your rooms and scenes. Its real function is social — it makes the house usable by someone who does not have the app.
A smart installation without a fixed control point works perfectly — for whoever installed the app. Guests, children and visiting parents are left facing a switch that no longer does what they expect. The wall panel solves that.
01What the Touch is for, and where
- The entrance: leaving and arriving — all off, away mode, gate. The most used panel.
- The living room: light scenes, shading, heating setpoint. The panel you use seated.
- The main bedroom: bedtime scene, blinds, wake-up. Useful mainly in large houses.

03Mounting and cabling
- Reserve a back box at the right depth, at switch height or slightly above.
- Bring power and network into the same box — retro-fitting cable is the real cost.
- Check the flatness of the wall: a flush panel on an uneven wall shows immediately.
04Dedicated panel or wall tablet?
A wall tablet costs three times less and does the same job — for two years. Then the battery swells, the system stops receiving updates, and the screen becomes a black rectangle in a wall. That is the only real difference, and it is enough to decide.

05What to check before ordering
- Available depth behind the partition: a plasterboard lining does not offer the same reserve as masonry.
- The power supply actually present in the back box, and its type.
- Compatibility with your server: a panel is an interface, it must talk to the reference installed.
- The direction of natural light late in the day: a panel facing full sun becomes unreadable at the hours it is most used.
- Mounting height according to the occupants: switch height suits everyone, board height suits adults only.

05Where to put it, and where not to
A wall panel earns its place where a gesture must stay possible without a phone. Everywhere else it becomes an expensive light switch.
- By the front door: the one place where « everything off » and « everything on » are used every single day.
- In the main living room, at switch height, near the way in rather than behind the sofa.
- In the master bedroom, if evening and night scenes are actually used.
- Not in every room: a panel per room is the classic over-specification, and it is the first thing we talk clients out of.
The physical constraints decide the rest: a back box of the right depth, and power available at the mounting point. Both are trivial before the walls are closed and expensive afterwards — which is why the panel is a decision to take at design stage even when it is bought later.
Frequently asked questions
Does the Touch work without a 1Home server?
No. It is an interface: it displays what the server exposes. Without a server there is nothing to display, so the server is chosen first.
Is a dedicated power supply required?
Power arrangements depend on the reference and must be confirmed against the official datasheet. In every case, plan power and network in the back box while the site is open.
Can an existing KNX panel be replaced by a Touch?
Often yes, but rarely like for like: back boxes, depths and power arrangements differ. It is a point to check before ordering, with a photo of the existing installation.
