1Home Server CH: KNX and Matter for Crestron Home

The Server CH connects to a Crestron Home interface what Crestron does not speak natively: an already installed KNX bus and the project's Matter equipment. It is a project product, commissioned by a certified integrator.

On a high-end residential project, the worst outcome is two coexisting interfaces: one for audio-video and scenes under Crestron, another for lighting and shading left in KNX. The client ends up using only one, and the other becomes a point of friction.

This server avoids that duplication.

It does so by bringing the KNX side into the Crestron project rather than the other way round: lighting and shading keep their wired reliability, and the client keeps a single interface. What changes is not the installation, it is the number of apps on the phone.

01What the Server CH integrates

  • The existing KNX bus: lighting, shading and heating appear in the Crestron interface instead of being driven separately.
  • The Matter ecosystem: the project's Matter devices become addressable within the same room and scene logic.
  • A single point of convergence: fewer interfaces to maintain, therefore less drift between what was delivered and what is operated three years later.

03Commissioning by a certified integrator

Access to Crestron configuration tooling is restricted to certified integrators: this is not a self-install product, and the quote must include that intervention time.

  1. Survey of the existing system: processor, version, licences, real KNX scope.
  2. Validation of the integrable scope with the distributor before ordering.
  3. Installation and network connection, then import of the KNX structure.
  4. Integration into the Crestron Home interface and room-by-room acceptance.

04What to prepare before ordering

On a Crestron project, an order placed before the survey almost always ends in rework. Four pieces of information secure the decision.

  1. The exact processor model and the Crestron Home version in service.
  2. The list of active licences on the system.
  3. The network addressing plan and the VLANs involved.
  4. The state of the KNX scope if there is one: ETS project available, naming, size.

With those elements we confirm in writing what can actually be integrated before the order ships. Public price on the pricing page.

05Who does what on a Crestron Home project

This reference is almost never bought by an end client, and the division of roles explains why.

  • The certified integrator owns the project: processor, licences, programming and acceptance.
  • We supply the hardware, check the reference against the described project, and invoice in France.
  • The client owns the requirement — what must be controlled and from which interface.
  • Nobody owns all three, and a project that pretends otherwise stalls at commissioning.

If you are an end client without an integrator, the useful step is not to order: it is to have the existing system reviewed. We can describe what the server brings; only the project file says whether your processor and licences allow it. Ordering before that answer is how hardware ends up unopened on a shelf.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to be a certified Crestron integrator to install it?

For the Crestron side, yes. We supply the hardware, the sizing and the advice; commissioning happens with your integrator.

Does the Server CH replace a KNX server?

No: it links the KNX world to the Crestron interface. The choice depends on which system should be the end customer's main interface.
